Why are unvaccinated staff being held to a different standard around quarantining than vaccinated staff?

Note: This help topic is out of date and currently archived.

Per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

  • At any level of community transmission, screening testing should be offered to all teachers and staff who have not been fully vaccinated.
  • Infections happen in only a small proportion of people who are fully vaccinated, even with the Delta variant. When these infections occur among vaccinated people, they tend to be mild.
  • Fully vaccinated people who have who have come into close contact with someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 be tested 3-5 days after exposure and wear a mask in public indoor settings for 14 days or until they receive a negative test result.
