What are the eligibility requirements to receive retirement benefits?

For retiree health benefits, you must have 15 or more cumulative Years of Service (YOS) with Howard County Public School System (HCPSS), be enrolled in one or more of the school system’s medical, dental or vision plans for at least one year prior to retirement date, and retire from Maryland State Retirement Pension System.

For retiree life insurance, you must retire with at least 10 cumulative Years of Service as an active employee with HCPSS.
