Will the classroom teacher at the Digital Education Center be expected to keep in communication with their students’ designated home schools? (articulation)

The students at the DEC will be reassigned to the DEC, therefore communication with the students’ designated home school will not be required during the year. Opportunities will be made for the classroom teacher and administrative team to articulate with the home school prior to the start of the school year and throughout the school year as necessary to gather more information about the students and their needs.

What is the status of the 2021-2022 Digital Education Center?

The Howard County Public School System had planned for a full-time virtual option for students entering grades K-12 who wished to learn virtually for the 2021-2022 school year. At the Board of Education meeting on June 24, 2021, it was announced that a fully virtual instructional delivery option will be available only to students in grades K-6 who committed to fully digital instruction in the spring. This digital option is a one-year solution designed to help bridge younger students back to normalized, in-person instruction as HCPSS moves beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
