Does HCPSS provide tuition reimbursement for its employees?
Employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement based upon the appropriate bargaining unit negotiated agreement or memorandum of understanding. Guidelines regarding eligibility and reimbursement amounts are detailed within the negotiated agreements.
How does my level of educational attainment impact my annual compensation?
HCPSS is proud to support all employees as they achieve varying levels of educational attainment. Employee tuition reimbursement is based upon the appropriate bargaining unit negotiated agreement or memorandum of understanding.
I am an active HCPSS temporary employee. What type of benefits do I receive? Am I eligible to pay for health insurance through HCPSS?
The Maryland Healthy Working Families Act requires that temporary employees receive Sick and Safe Leave.
Am I eligible for the retired substitute teacher rate if I retired as a secretary?
No. The retired substitute teacher rate is for retired teachers only. Documentation that you retired as a teacher must be provided by your former employer.
If I resigned as a permanent teacher, do I get the higher rate/retired rate of pay if I substitute?
No. You will be processed at a degreed substitute teacher rate.

I had a curriculum interview for a teaching position last year. Will I need to interview again this year with the curriculum office?
If your curriculum interview is less than a year old, you will not need to interview again this year.
